1 Salt Water Gargle

Salt water helps to draw the excess fluids from the inflamed areas in the throat to reduce the cough. Gargling helps to remove irritants in the throat and thins the mucus.

Ingredients:

  • 2 teaspoon of salt
  • A glass of warm water

Process:

  1. Mix the salt in a glass of warm water
  2. Use this as a mouthwash to gargle your mouth
  3. It reduces the soreness in your throat and then cough
  4. Do it for 3 – 4 times a day to get rid of the sore throat and cough

2 Garlic & Honey

  • 2 – 3 cloves of garlic
  • Cup of water
  • 1 teaspoon of oregano
  • 1 teaspoon of honey

Process:

  1. Take 2-3 cloves of garlic
  2. Boil it in a cup of water
  3. Then add teaspoon of oregano
  4. Allow it to cool for some time to reach room temperature
  5. Add some honey into it
  6. Drink this liquid for at least twice for a day

  • 2-3 cloves of garlic
  • Few drops of clove oil
  • 1 teaspoon of honey

Process:

  1. Take the cloves of crushed garlic

3 Onions

  • 2 sliced onions

  • 1/2 cup of honey

Process:

  1. Take onions & water into a glass pyrex pan
  2. Bake it at 250 degrees in the oven for 30 minutes

  4. Then add honey to the juice

4 Hot Milk & Honey

9 Honey in Green Tea

  • Cup of warm water

  1. Take mustard seeds and break it into small pieces
  2. Allow it to soak in water for about 15 minutes

  5. Allow it to sit for about 15 minutes

12 Pepper

Pepper is very helpful to those who suffer from cough due to thick mucus. It helps to stimulate the circulation and flow of mucus in the airways.

Remedy – 1:

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • Cup of boiling water or milk

Process:

  1. Take black pepper into a cup
  2. Add honey to sweeten it
  3. Then pour boiling water or milk
  4. Steep it for about 10 to 15 minutes
  5. Stir it & sip it slowly
  6. Process has to be repeated to prevent the cough

Remedy – 2:

Ingredients:

  • Fresh lemon cut it in a quarter pieces
  • Black pepper powder
  • A pinch of salt

Process:

  1. Take quarter a fresh lemon
  2. Sprinkle it with black pepper powder and salt

13 Thyme

Thyme & Peppermint has antimicrobial and antispasmodic properties to get relief from hacking cough. Both these will help to clear the congested air passages. Mullein and licorice will soothe irritation of membranes and thus reduces the inflammation.

Remedy – 1:

Ingredients:

  • Two teaspoon of all i.e., dried thyme, peppermint, mullein, licorice root
  • One cup of boiling water
  • 1/2 cup of honey

Process:

  1. Take all the ingredients except honey
  2. Mix it well in a cup of boiling water
  3. Cover it and let it sit for about 30 minutes
  4. Now strain the solution
  5. Add honey to it & if honey doesn’t dissolves in it, heat the solution lightly
  6. Take 1 teaspoon whenever get cough which helps to get relief from the cough.
  7. Store the remaining in a container and put it in the refrigerator.
  8. Repeat the process whenever you have cough.

Remedy -2:

Ingredients:

  • 2 teaspoon of crushed leaves
  • 1 cup of boiling water

Process:

  1. Take crushed leaves of thyme
  2. Pour it in boiling water
  3. Cover it and steep it for 10 minutes
  4. Strain the tea to drink slowly.

14 Slippery Elm

Slippery elm contains gel like substances which helps to ease the throat from irritation and make your cough to get reduced. It is mainly useful for dry cough

Ingredients:

  • Slippery Elm
  • Water

Process:

  1. Make tea with slippery elm and water
  2. Drink it twice a day to prevent the cough
  3. Or simply suck the lozenges made of slippery elm or even candies to prevent the cough

15 Mullein Tea

It acts as an expectorant and loosens trapped mucus to prevent the cough

Ingredients:

  • Dried mullein herb
  • Cup of water
  • Strainer
  • Honey

  1. Take water in saucepan
  2. Add dried mullein into it
  3. Stir it for few minutes

16 Marshmallow Tea

  • 2 -3 grams of dried leaf
  • Cup of hot water

Process:

  1. Take dried marshmallow leaf
  2. Steep it in a cup of hot water for about 10 minutes

  4. Take this cup of tea for 3 times a day to get rid of the congestion and cough.

17 Flax Seeds

Flax seeds give a thick, gooey gel that soothes your throat when boiled in water. Honey and lemon acts as mild antibiotics. Steps are given below to make this syrup.

Ingredients:

  • 2-3 tablespoon of flax seeds
  • 1 cup of water
  • 3 tablespoon of honey
  • 3 tablespoon of lemon juice

Process:

  1. Take the flax seeds
  2. Boil it in a cup of water until the water becomes thick
  3. Strain this solution
  4. Add lemon juice and honey to it

  • Cup of orange juice

  4. Then add a little bit of honey

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp of black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • Half cup of water
  • Cinnamon sticks

Process:

  1. Take honey, turmeric powder, black pepper
  2. Mix it well in a half cup of water

  4. Altogether, boil it for 2 – 3 minutes

20 Peppermint

Peppermint is having the property of reducing the congestion and cough.

Ingredients:

  • A drop or two of Peppermint oil
  • Glass of water

Process:

  1. Take a glass of water
  2. Add 1 – 2 drops of peppermint oil in it
  3. Mix it well and drink this liquid which helps to calm your cough.
  4. But make sure that not to use more than 6 drops for adults and don’t use this oil for children.

21 Honey and Cinnamon
