Why do we Get Pimples?

Pimples are red and swollen outgrowths found on the skin. They are highly irritable and painful to boot. An outbreak of pimples is a common occurrence for people with an oily skin type. However, besides oily skinned people, pimples affect adolescent youths, adults, and menopausal women alike.

Often, secretions from the sebaceous glands get blocked behind the pores of the skin. These accumulations lead to the growth of a bacteria called Propionibacterium acnes, among many others. These bacteria are conducive to the irritation and infection that pimples are characteristic of.

Among the youth in the early years of puberty, hormonal influxes often lead to the growth of pimples, while among women, pimple growth relapses on reaching menopause. It is at this point in a woman’s life that hormonal changes happen once again. Besides women and the youth, pimples are noted phenomena among people with rather unhealthy dietary plans and unhygienic lifestyles.
