  • Alternatively, you can use evaporated milk, canned milk or breast milk.
  • Repeat 4 times a day.

2. Cold Compress with Milk

  • Soak a washcloth in cold milk (refrigerated).

  • Leave it on for as long as possible.

Process 1:

  • In a blender add fresh coconut pieces and a little water.

  • Wash with cold water.
  • Store the leftover coconut milk in the refrigerator for future use.

Process 2: Coconut Milk with Tomato

  • Combine 3 tablespoons of tomato juice and 2 tablespoons coconut milk.
  • Apply the solution on the affected areas.
  • After 15 minutes, rinse off with cool water.
  • Repeat 3 times a week.

4. Milk Bath

  • Pour 1 gallon of milk into a tub of cool water.
  • Soak for 20 minutes and bath with cold water.
  • Note: Don’t use soap while bathing.
  • Repeat daily.

5. Milk with Honey

Honey soothes the skin and its inflammatory properties reduce the redness and irritation.

  • Mix equal amounts of milk and honey.

  • Add enough amounts of raw milk to 1 tablespoon of turmeric.

  • Rub the mixture gently in circular motions and leave it for 20 minutes.
  • Rinse off with cold water and pat the skin dry.
  • Repeat 3 times daily.

8. Milk with Cucumbers

Cucumbers have soothing properties which help to alleviate sunburn.

  • Blend 1 cucumber and 1/2 cup of chilled milk.
  • Apply the mixture to the affected areas.
  • Let it rest for 25 minutes and reapply the mixture again.
  • After 15 minutes, rinse off with cold water.
  • Repeat 3 times a week or whenever you come home from a scorching sun.

9. Milk with Onion

  • Blend 2 onions and extract juice from it.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of milk and a pinch of salt to onion juice.
  • Stir well and apply it on sun-burnt areas.
  • After 10 minutes, reapply the solution.
  • Repeat at least 3 times.
  • Rinse off with cold water and pat dry.
  • Repeat 3 times a week.

10. Milk with Oatmeal

The anti-inflammatory properties of oatmeal give relief from redness and itchiness.

  • Grind ½ cup of oatmeal to a fine powder.
  • Combine 1/4 cup milk, ground oatmeal powder and 2 tablespoons of honey.
  • Apply the mixture on affected areas.
  • After 20 minutes, rinse off with cool water.

11. Milk with Sandalwood

The cooling properties of sandalwood soothe the sun-burnt skin.

  • Combine enough amounts of milk and sandalwood powder to make a smooth paste.
  • Apply the paste on the sun-burnt skin.
  • Leave it for 25 minutes and rinse off with cool water.
  • Repeat 3 times a week.

12. Milk with Wheat Flour and Olive Oil

  • Mix 1 cup of milk, 1/2 cup of wheat flour and 3 tablespoons olive oil.
  • Apply the paste on the affected areas and leave it for 20 minutes.
  • Rinse off with cool water and pat the skin dry with a smooth towel.
  • Repeat the process 3 times a week.

13. Milk of Magnesia

  • Apply milk of magnesia on sun-burnt areas.
  • Let it rest for 45 minutes and take a warm bath.
  • Repeat 3 times a day.

14. Milk with Almonds

  • Soak almonds overnight and grind them next morning.
  • Add 5 tablespoons milk to the almond paste and stir well.
  • Apply the paste on the affected areas.
  • After 15 minutes, rinse off with cool water.
  • Repeat 3 times daily.

15. Evaporated Milk with Baking Soda

  • Mix 1 cup of evaporated milk, 3 cups of finely ground oatmeal powder and 1 cup of baking soda.
  • Apply the mixture on the sun-burnt areas.
  • After 25 minutes, rinse off with cool water.
  • Repeat 3 times a week.

Tips, Precautions, and Warnings

  • If you have sunburn with symptoms like nausea, fever or a headache, consult the doctor immediate medical help.
  • Sunburn makes skin dehydrated, so drink plenty of water to replenish the skin.
  • Take vitamin E or C supplements to neutralize the free radicals caused by sun damage.
  • Wear loose clothing to let the skin breathe and heal.
  • Avoid using soap till the sunburn heals.
  • Apply sunscreen lotion that contains aloe vera before going out in the sun.
  • Wear protective clothing to avoid sun exposure.
  • Moisturize the skin with aloe vera based lotions.
  • Don’t peel the flaking skin off as it develops an infection.
  • If blisters or infection develops, consult the doctor immediately.
