Home Remedies for Covid-19

There is still much that we don’t yet know about COVID-19, especially with the emergence of the Omicron Variant. What is known, however, and this is true for many other similar viruses, is that boosting the body’s immune system is the best way to treat symptoms. This article is all about natural remedies for Covid.

Boosting the immune system before you get ill is the best course of action. It is well known that prevention is better than cure (not that there is a cure for COVID). So, what can we do in terms of natural remedies for covid symptoms? Let’s take a look.

Boost your levels of Vitamin C

For some time now, vitamin C has been used for its healing and preventive qualities. This is no more true than for viral illnesses, and doctors all over the world say the majority of us don’t get nearly enough vitamin C in our diets. As a natural remedy for COVID symptoms, it seems that boosting our vitamin C levels is a no-brainer.

The most obvious sources of vitamin C are fruits such as oranges, mangoes, and pineapples. There is a hidden risk there though, sugars. Fruits such as those mentioned are high in natural sugars, and this means we shouldn’t eat too much of them if we want to avoid other medical issues.

The quick solution is supplements but don’t forget your fruit and vegetables either. Proper vitamin C levels help the immune system by boosting metabolic and inflammation requirements.

Vitamin D3 is also among the natural remedies for COVID symptoms

Vitamin D3 is exceptional in boosting the immune system. It is estimated that around 42% of Americans have a vitamin D3 deficiency. This same study also reveals that these men and women average a daily intake of 600 IU of the vitamin – this is far too low.

Optimal blood levels of vitamin D to reduce your risk of disease is 28 to 42 ng/mL. Many people need about 2,000 IU of vitamin D3 per day to achieve that level,” says Joel Fuhrman, MD, author of Super Immunity.

It is not yet known how vitamin D3 deficiency is linked to poor health but the evidence is clear. It leads to depression, a lowered immune system, a lower chance of cancer survival, and many other issues. It’s clear that vitamin D3 levels need to be improved, and not just for COVID symptoms treatment.

It is worth noting that the recommended daily levels of the vitamin during flu/virus season are between 5,000 and 10,000 IU.

How to boost your D3 levels? These foods are good sources – Beef liver, cheese, egg yolks, and fatty fish. We get a lot of vitamin D3 from the sun, so being outside as much as possible is a good idea. Cod Liver Oil is also an excellent source and there are many supplements available that contain this.

Essential Oils as Natural Remedies for Covid

Many people dismiss essential oils as being ineffective, almost snake oil, nonsense. This couldn’t be further from the truth, however. These oils have long been used for their immune-boosting, and strong, antiviral properties – multiple studies back this up. Indeed, several studies have shown that specific essential oils can help to prevent infection from some viruses entirely. So, which oils have these incredible, antiviral properties?

  • Cinnamon bark
  • Clove
  • Eucalyptus
  • Lemon balm
  • Rosemary
  • Bergamot
  • Tea tree

There are more but too many to list here, sadly.

These oils can be diffused throughout the home, and some can be ingested – but caution is advised. Before considering ingestion, consult the advice of a physician.

Garlic isn’t just for keeping vampires away

In addition to helping stop the Prince of Darkness in his tracks, and bringing incredible flavor to food, garlic has other properties. Garlic is well known for its antiviral and antibacterial properties.

To include garlic in your arsenal of natural remedies for COVID symptoms, you need a compound called allicin. Thankfully, this compound is easily produced when garlic is crushed or chewed.

It is allicin that boosts the immune system and it can be had in liquid form as a supplement if you don’t like the idea of chewing garlic! Garlic can prevent viral illnesses, whether this includes COVID remains to be seen but it is still an excellent idea to include it in your diet.

In addition, if a person is already poorly it has been shown that garlic intake can reduce the length of time that the person experiences symptoms.

When it comes to health, nature has long been our first port of call (for very good reason) and this includes natural remedies for COVID symptoms.
