Types of Acne

Many people try different remedies for acne but they fail to get rid of it, this is because there are several types of acne and the cures will vary according to which type you have. This infographic will give you the most common ones and their cures.

1. Blackheads

They are tiny black bumps which usually appear on the nose, they mainly contain dead skin and oils. The cure is a leave-in Salicylic product to dissolve the blackheads.

2. Whiteheads

They are white spots on the skin caused by excessive oil production. Apply Tea Tree oil twice a day. Some cleansers have tea tree oil. Vitamin A cream is another option.

3. Papules

These appear as small red bumps that are inflamed. They are caused by oil and bacteria. The best treatment would be any product that contains Salicylic acid or Benzoyl peroxide.

4. Pustules

They are small, hard and yellow bumps filled with pus. Resist the urge to pop them. The cure includes cream of cleansers what have Salicylic acid or Benzoyl peroxide.

5. Nodules

These are bigger than papules, inflamed, hard and painful. They can appear on the face or body. It is also known as severe acne and should be treated by a dermatologist.

6. Cyst

It is bigger than pustules, filled with pus and painful. Keep the area clean and do not squeeze it. Get medical attention for treatment.

7. Acne Fulminans

This acne is common among young men. It also causes joint pain and fever and can leave behind scars. Urgent medical attention is needed to treat it.

8. Acne Mechanica

It is common with people who wear helmets for long a combination of friction and heat causes it. Use body or facial wash that contains Salicylic acid or Benzoyl peroxide.

9. Pyoderma faciale

It is common among women between 20 and 40 years. It looks like a cross between nodules and pustules. A dermatologist will prescribe medication. Treatment lasts months.

10. Acne Conglobata

It is the most serious type of acne, presenting a large lesion on the skin. It often results in skin damage. Seek the help of a dermatologist to treat this one.

  1. I have pyoderma derma faciale as my type of acne,I want to use natural ingredient such as papaya and honey or tomatoes and onions,can I?
    for my darkspots since it affects ages 20-40
