Best Sea Salt for Treating Acne:

Always use organic sea salt for acne treatments. It can be found at most grocery stores or ordered online. Reliable brands we recommend include Himalayan, Celtic, Lush (Ocean salt cleanser), Morton, Real sea salt, Redmond clay sea salt, Mediterranean Sea salt, Dead sea salt etc. Do not use iodized table salt to treat acne.

Tips and Precautions:

  • Scrubbing sea salt too hard can lead to skin damage.
  • Sea salt dries out the skin. Use an oil-free moisturizer when treating acne with sea salt, especially if you have dry or sensitive skin.
  • Regular table salt makes acne worse.
  • Never leave sea salt treatments on the skin for a longer time than recommended as this will cause irritation and exacerbate acne.
  • If you see no results after 10 days with these treatments, consult a doctor.
  • Use sea salt instead of table salt in your cooking, but don’t use it in excess.
  • Try using sea salt soaps, which can be made at home, found in stores, or ordered online.
  • Stress is also a major contributor to adult acne. Try breathing exercises, meditation and yoga to reduce stress.
  • As with other natural treatments, sea salt will be most effective when combined with a healthy diet, regular exercise, and proper hygiene.
  • Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
  • Avoid sugar and carbohydrates, and include protein rich foods and leafy greens in your daily diet.

  1. Hi there, just wondering, how long does it take for the sea salt method to completely clear clogged pores? I’ve been doing it for 5 days and I think I’ve seen progress but I’m not exactly sure what progress in terms of clogged pores are? Some people said they got active pimples, but I haven’t really seen that, I just feel like the bumps maybe look a bit smaller? Not sure. Any information would be helpful, thanks!

  2. Thank you so much for these tips. I been thinking about making a sea salt mist, but was curious about how to make masks. I always had acne, but after I changed my skin care and diet my acne comes only when I have my periods…my remedies is tea tree oil and sea salt it’s the best of all skin care I have tried! And always after the beach my skin looks amazing) hopefully after homemade sea salt water it will be same results..*)))

    1. It is better to rinse it off once it dries completely instead of leaving it on the face. As the presence of salt on the skin for more than few hours can make the skin excessively dry which leads to other skin ailments.

  3. Is there any difference between sea salt and Himalayan salt? Because I have been using Himalayan salt for treating my acne and I am very much satisfied with its results. Recently I have also bought salt lamps from ittefaqco as well. These lamps are also very amazing and i just love them.
